About Preston:
Preston is situated in the southeast corner of Idaho, in the oldest county established in the state just a few miles north of the Utah border and 70 miles from famous Bear Lake.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Preston boasts beautiful parks, an 18-hole championship golf course, nearby canyons, snowmobiling and hiking trails, breathtaking fall colors, easy access to excellent fishing on several reservoirs, the Bear and Cub Rivers and other streams, hunting, hot springs for soaking and recreation, wilderness areas, State and National Parks, and rock climbing opportunities. There are also excellent restaurants, boutiques and specialty shops, motels, lodges, and RV parks.
Summer in Preston is marked by the PRCA and WPRA approved "That Famous Preston Night Rodeo", when cowboys and girls from national and international fame come to compete. The Rodeo, begun in 1936, is the second oldest night-time rodeo, under lights, complete with a carnival, hamburger stands and world class entertainment.
Most recently, Preston became somewhat famous for the cult hit Movie "Napoleon Dynamite" which was based in Preston, Idaho. |
